This week we have been busy completing a job in Charvil, Reading.
The owners of the house had been hearing strange noises and scratching in the space above a downstairs bay window as well as noises in the loft space. We spent time discussing the extent of the problem with the owners to determine how long the issue had been present and if the house had a history of rodent activity before conducting a full survey.
During the survey of the house Mike found a warped plastic air brick that had worn away in parts, this small hole had allowed mice to squeeze through the gap and into the cavity walls, therefore allowing access to the whole house.
With the survey complete and the entry point and source of the problem identified, Mike began the treatment by setting several traps in the loft space, as well as counting and measuring all air bricks to be proofed on a follow up visit. All remedial proofing works are included within the price of the treatment, so the owners didn’t have to worry about any hidden charges being added to their bill.
Over the next few weeks several mice were removed from the property until the noises subsided and there was no longer any evidence of rodents within the home. Mike then completed the works by sealing up the voids in the air bricks around the property to reduce the likelihood of future infestations. We then attended for a final visit to check the proofing work had prevented any new rodent activity and to remove the traps.
